Spectators:
Message from Father Gallatin to all spectators for sporting events:
The Catholic Grade School Athletic Association and St. Charles Borromeo Parish extend an invitation to our coaches, fans and visitors to help us in demonstrating good sportsmanship.
Your attendance at an
interscholastic activity is a privilege, a privilege to watch
youngsters compete and learn on the court.
One of the lessons taught to players is one spectators should
follow as well – that of good sportsmanship.
- Do unto others, as you would have others do unto you.
- Cheer for your team, not against the opponent.
- Recognize good performances by either team.
- Respect the integrity and judgment of the game officials.
- Behave in a Christian manner at all times.
- Don’t use abusive or profane language.
- Don’t “boo” or use personal put-downs.
- Don’t criticize officials or display your temper with an official call.
- Don’t abuse coaches, officials, players or other spectators in any way.
Un-sportsmanlike conduct could result in ejection from the property at the discretion of game or gym officials.
A coach once wrote, “When we lose
without excuses and we acknowledge the better team, we place winning and losing
in their proper perspectives.”
Christian spectators should keep their sporting interests in perspective.
Pastor, Father Paul H. Gallatin
